The studies of regional physical plans, as the second level of the levels of physical plans (national, regional, local), have been started since 1994 at the same time as the studies of the national physical plan. These studies, like other levels of Physical plan studies, pursue the following three main goals:
– Determining the suitability of land for the development of settlements and industrial activities
– Determining the hierarchy and network of settlements and leveling of services
– Determining the permitted uses of land throughout the region
